"The Sound of music" features in the musical The Sound of Music as the title song. The musical was composed by Richard Rodgers and was set to lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. Mary Martin sang the song in the 1959 stage musical. The film version in 1965 was sung by Julie Andrews, while later in the film a reprise was sung by the Von Trapp family. Andrews played the part of Maria, a young novice in an Austrian abbey. This song was ranked tenth in the 100 Greatest Songs in Movie History.
